Note: This image was taken after Hurricane Hazel, and marks Sauriol’s efforts to gradually clean up the property. De Grassi was Sauriol’s second cottage at the Forks of the Don. He and his family were expropriated from the first cottage to make way for the construction of the Don Valley Parkway in 1958. Ten years later, in 1968, they were expropriated a second time, this time as a result of MTRCA land acquisitions in the valley for recreation and flood control purposes.en
